to Escuela Futuro Verde, Costa Rica

We are delighted by the great interest which the not-for-profit project ESCUELA FUTURO VERDE Centro Educativo Internacional located on the Southern Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica has created.

This proves that there is a strong desire for such a school. We are a nonprofit project for the community of Cóbano and environs. The school is managed by a partnership of parents, there is no single owner.

ESCUELA FUTURO VERDE offers a true bilingual education. The main language at the school, however, is Spanish. Besides the traditional language studies in Spanish, Social Studies and Math, some of the afternoon programs are held in Spanish as well. The second language is English, now the universal language, especially in this thriving area, and communication on a global-level is necessary for one's success. Knowing this, we use bilingual methods of teaching English to all students, our teachers are well equipped to teach English Writing, Grammar and Reading, as well as to use proven English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) methods to teach Science and Environmental Studies. With the combination of formal language study and ESL methods, all students will be prepared to communicate easily in both languages.

OUR MISSION:
Create an IBO International School (Gr. 1—12, international accreditation) as part of a non-profit foundation for the children of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula, focusing on a creative multidisciplinary education and based on multicultural, environmental and social consciousness.

Teaching English
to A Bilingual Level

To ensure optimal English training, we have excellent professionals from North America, who are responsible for teaching English not only in the areas of writing, grammar, reading, but also two academic courses of science, mathe-matics and environment in English. Thus, the students will gain a knowledge of English as a second language, enabling them to be prepared for future employment in a field that requires a competent and uni-versal communication. If he/she does not have the knowledge English language, there will be an adaptation during which time content will be translated into Spanish until the student acquires basic knowledge of the language.

Environmental Awareness

It is very important for us to educate our students in under-standing and discussion of the global ecological crisis. Our purpose is to incorporate into daily lessons the importance of protecting the environment and recycle. It will explore and teach about the rich biodi-versity that surrounds us and the importance of protecting it

through school projects focused on the protection and care of the environment.

Multicultural Environment

Escuela Futuro Verde is located in an area where different cultures coexist, which is why it became necessary to create a space where children / as to share diverse experiences and knowledge of the world. Our school aims to create a multi- cultural learning environment that allow children achieved
mainstream culture and know-ledge, with mulicultures.

Creative and Artistic Program

The academic purpose of the Escuela Futuro Verde is not only to provide children a solid bilingual academic training, but also offer a space to develop their creativity and artistic skills.

We have professionals in arts and music in charge of the recreation program in the afternoon. Art is very important to us as we believe this helps to develop creative skills of social development, sensitivity, dedication, discipline.
