EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Significant changes within the local Costa Rican society plus the growing number of foreigners with children settling in the Nicoya Peninsula’s beach villages, has produced an undeniable need for a solution to the lack of educational opportunities for all of the area’s children.

Now, more than ever, local children are challenged to embrace and celebrate the diversity of cultures surrounding them, while simultaneously maintaining their individual heritage. The current and future generations from the tip of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula have a unique opportunity to harmoniously exist and prosper in a truly multicultural environment; for these children grow up in a melting pot of three worlds - Latin America, Northern America and Europe.

Living in this small tropical paradise, children also have the opportunity to learn to exist in respectful harmony with nature and to exhibit social responsibility for humankind. Therefore, multicultural, environmental and social consciousness is the basis for the FUTURO VERDE FOUNDATION.

Overview

The Futuro Verde Foundation is a not-for-profit comprehensive community educational institution. The Futuro Verde Foundation is divided into a Board and a Trust. To see this entire project to fruition, the Futuro Verde Foundation’s Board and Trust will cooperatively focus on starting the Escuela Futuro Verde International School.

This school will be located in Cóbano, the urban center of this area. The financial means to start Escuela Futuro Verde International School will be collected by global fundraising efforts. The finances needed for the Futuro Verde Kids & Youth Meeting Center and the Futuro Verde Educacion Interactiva will also be generated by ongoing fundraising and grant-seeking. All donations and profits will be collected, held and distributed through the Trust.

The administration of the Foundation is in hands of the Board. All three independent administrations will consist of professionals with appropriate educational and professional experience. They cannot simultaneously function as Foundation Board members.

The Foundation papers have been discussed with a lawyer and are ready for registration. The mission of this Foundation cannot be changed after its registration. This Foundation does not have financial interest, but can realize economic operations to increase this educational institution’s future and profits.

Donations turn into the Foundation’s property and may only be used according to the aims of the Foundation. The Foundation will be eligible to receive support from Costa Rican public institutions after one year of existence. Donations from foreigners are tax deductible, according to home country regulations. This foundation will adhere to the regulations for educational and non-profit business standards of USA, Canada and many European countries.
