Centro Educativo Internacional in
Cóbano de Puntarenas, Costa Rica

2010 SCHOOL YEAR UNDERWAY!

We are surprised and delighted by the great interest which the not-for-profit project ESCUELA FUTURO VERDE Centro Educativo Internacional located on the Southern Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica has created. This proves that there is a strong desire for such a school. Our invitation to you: Participate! Together we can make it happen. Suggestions, active support and donations are welcome, please contact us!

The school is the process of moving to its new location in Cóbano and has a full day program. You are invited to visit us virtually at our photo gallery.

We are proud to be one of the first schools in Costa Rica offering Constructive Learning, a progressive learning method build around the child's natural skills.

We have one spot left for a volunteer this second semester of 2010 (July - December)!

OUR MISSION:

Create an IBO International School (Gr. 1-12, international accreditation) as part of a non-profit foundation for the children of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula, focusing on a creative multidisciplinary education and based on multicultural, environmental and social consciousness.

BILINGUAL EDUCATION:
ENGLISH LEARNING

The main language at the school is Spanish. Besides traditional language studies in Spanish, Social Studies, Math and some of the afternoon programs are held in spanish.

English is now the universal world language, especially in this thriving area, and communication on a global-level is necessary for one’s success. Knowing this, we use bilingual methods of teaching English to all students. Our teachers are well equipped to teach English Writing, Grammar and Reading, as well as to use proven English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) methods to teach Science and Environmental Studies. With the combination of formal language study and ESL methods, all students will be prepared to communicate easily in both languages.

AFTERNOON PROGRAMS

One of the aims of the Escuela Futuro Verde Foundation is to fill the gap of spare time children have and to offer enrichment. The afternoon program is also open to all the children of other Primary schools in the area. The prices are affordable and the majority of the courses are instructed bilingually in Spanish and English which is excellent practice for all the children, both native and foreign.

Would you like to offer a course and need a space? Contact us! info@futuro-verde.org

INTERACTION WITH THE
PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS

The Interaction Program is expected to include all primary schools in the Cóbano district on the tip of the Southern Nicoya Peninsula. The programs offered would be cost-free to the public school students.

THE PEOPLE OF
ESCUELA FUTURO VERDE

You may want to know who is behind this project - find out at About Us, and read about our Teachers & Instructors which offers a quick look the spirit of the school.

The project coordinators plan on carrying the project to the point to where the foundation is able to pay a professional project manager. Then the project manager will manage the project until a permanent school director and administrator are secured.

THE FOUNDATION

The legal entity for the school shall be administered by a not-for-profit FOUNDATION. In contrast to foundations in the United States, Costa Rican foundations CANNOT CHANGE their purpose. Foundations are the safest entities to ensure the correct and intended destination for donations. The foundation will hold a TRUST and the Trust will be registered once the Foundation is registered.

The BUSINESS PLAN and the MASTERPLAN are under revision by a former business consultant from the United States. Excerpts of the plan will be published on this web site, however, for the time being you may wish to view the SUMMARY.

A CALL FOR
PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT

This ambitious project still needs support - if you are interested in making a donation to the project or supporting the group, if you are a teacher yourself or know teachers who would love to live here, or if you have ideas on how to contribute to this project, please contact: info@futuro-verde.org
