Field Trips

During the course of the school year, each grade level works diligently toward meaningful out of classroom experiences connected to their learning, including amazing field trips across Costa Rica.

 

Field trips by grade level

Preschool:

  • Turtle conservation project in Montezuma
  • Scarlet macaw reintroduction project in Tambor
  • Sustainable farm at Hacienda Okhra

1st grade:

  • Visit to the community in Cóbano (municipality office, post office, police station, local businesses)
  • Wildlife refuge in Curú

2nd grade:

  • Visit the Children’s Museum in San Jose

3rd grade:

  • Trip to Isla Tortuga

4th grade:

  • Visit Cafe Britt (coffee company); land use, conservation strategies, sustainable development

5th grade:

  • Bioluminescence boat tour in Curú

6th grade:

  • Visit the Children’s Eternal Rainforest in Monteverde

7th grade:

  • Learn to scuba dive PADI certification and dive

8th grade:

  • Visit museums in San José

9th grade:

  • Visit the San Lucas Island and former penitentiary
  • Sustainable farm at Hacienda Okhra

10th grade:  

  • Visit to the University, Biology Department: laboratory practices (genetics, molecular biology, etc.)

11th grade:

  • A trip to culminate the diploma year (to be confirmed by the administration maintaining field trip guidelines)
  • Vocational Fair during the University Week at the UCR campus in San Pedro
