Help FV students to have cold and fresh water this summer!

Help FV students to have cold and fresh water this summer!

We feel so grateful that we have drinkable water in our wonderful school, we feel very privileged to have this treat right here in our campus facilities, especially during the months from January to May which are the driest and hottest months of the year.  With temperatures up to 32°.

With these temperatures and living in the Nicoya Península it is very important that all the students should keep hydrated!

Help all the kiddos, mid-schoolers and high schoolers get fresh and cold water this summer!

We would love to have water dispensers around the school to provide fresh and cold water to all our students! Help us getting 9 water dispensers for the school!

Where will these dispensers be?
  1. First and second grade area ($250)
  2. Third and fourth grade area ($250)
  3. Fifth and sixth grade area (250)
  4. Social Studies/Math/Art high school area ($250)
  5. Spanish, English and Science area ($250)
  6. Music and Lab area ($250)
  7. Library ($250)
  8. Dining hall ($250)
  9. Office

Any amount will help us make this wish come true! Donate online or in the main office.

We thanked you in advance for keeping us cool and fresh!

When Do We Get our Multi-use Sports Court?

When Do We Get our Multi-use Sports Court?

sports, ib school, international education

For over a year now Futuro Verde students, staff, parents and our greater school community have worked together to raise the funds needed for a multi-use sports court for the school. With our efforts thus far we have raised over $5,000. The total cost of the court is estimated at $40,000, which would include the court base and roof.  Our board president, Rico Reolon, has been working hard to secure an external donor willing to support the funding needed for our court and just this last month the good news came in- a Swiss donor has committed to $20,000 toward our sports facilities!

We held a surprise announcement with our staff and students and filmed the moment to share with our social media community and as a thank you to our donor. Students and staff celebrated in full- overjoyed to have achieved such impressive progress on this important goal for our school community! It is never lost on our school community that we have and continue to thrive thanks to the support of generous donations just like our current Swiss donors and we are tremendously grateful for this ongoing support.

Phase one of construction for the sports court will begin as soon as possible. This phase will complete the court base and will boast a purpose-built facility designed for:

  • Indoor football (soccer)
  • American 5-man football
  • Handball
  • Goalball
  • Acrobatic gymnastics
  • Artistic gymnastics
  • Volleyball

We would love to achieve Phase 2 of the sport court construction, primarily the construction of a roof over the facility and bathrooms, showers and lockers, and encourage donors interested in supporting this to contribute to our current online campaign. Thank you!

An amazing evening to be remembered and repeated!

An amazing evening to be remembered and repeated!

Thank you Futuro Verde. It was an amazing evening!

Upon entering the Core:club, our guests were welcomed by the soothing sounds of Latin music, opening to a packed room where everyone was socializing and learning all about the magic of Futuro Verde.

Mateo and Elian transformed into the Two Princes of Costa Rica that special evening. They were magnificent! Guests were huddled around them excited to learn more about their lives and the school. The energy was alive and on true FV form, caring… Our guests were extremely interested in our school community, and their main question was “How can we help?”

We sold auction packages, auction items and most importantly, a number of student scholarships were successfully sponsored.

We made amazing contacts and the fundraising team is already working on next year’s event.

We are so grateful to all the parent volunteers and Futuro Verde staff that helped make this event a success. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you Futuro Verde community for your love and commitment.

Fundraising Objectives

Fundraising Objectives

The collaboration and donations of both parents and friends of Futuro Verde play a very important part for the institution.

Since Futuro Verde is an independent non-profit, we only have two sources of income: students’ monthly tuition payments and donations.

Our different donation campaigns support the following initiatives:

  • Improvements in school infrastructure.
  • Enrollment of a wide range of families to guarantee the socio-economic diversity of the community.
  • The development of sports and sustainability programs within the institution.
  • Library improvements and programs and the purchase of books for all grades in English and Spanish.

We deeply appreciate all the people who have accompanied us during our journey without whom our growth and the continuation of our program would not have been possible.

If you wish to support any of the aforementioned initiatives, please visit https://www.futuro-verde.org/get-involved/give-now/

Big Apple here we come!

Big Apple here we come!

Big Apple here we come! We are only days away from an exciting Futuro Verde fundraising event in New York!

On May 7th we will proudly host the Futuro Verde Benefit reception at the prestigious CORE: club in New York City. The fundraiser will benefit our Capital Campaign and Student Scholarship program.

I will be accompanied by several parents, board members and staff. Two of our amazing scholarship students, Elian and Mateo, will also be speaking at the event. We are so proud of their bravery and enthusiasm to make this journey far from home.

We’ve lined up a distinguished guest list of potential donors, great food and a live auction. We look forward to a successful event and our hope is to continue these fundraisers annually.

Thanks so much to all the parent volunteers who have helped make this event happen! We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you all! The Futuro Verde community is a special group. Thanks for all the support.

Pura Vida!

Earth Day Charity Challenge Recap

Earth Day Charity Challenge Recap

On April 23rd, we celebrated Earth Day at Futuro Verde with costumes, activities and workshops. Thanks to the collaboration of students, parents and friends, Refugio Romelia, Cabo Blanco Reserva Absoluta and ASVO achieved the first, second and third place respectively, reaching 1,000 dollars raised before the closing date of the competition, April 27th.
It is with great enthusiasm that we share with you how the beneficiary organizations will use the funds raised at Futuro Verde:
Refugio Romelia can now afford to remunerate the volunteer coordinator for the coming  turtle season, starting in June and ending in January. Refugio Romelia coordinators are interns graduated in Biology or a related field of studies who have had previous experiences with turtles. They travel to Refugio Romelia as volunteers from other countries and receive $ 200 per month as a token of appreciation for their work protecting the species.
The funds raised for Cabo Blanco Reserva Absoluta will go towards repairing the public trail bridge and hosting ecological camps on site.
ASVO will use the donation to repair and finish the turtle hatchery, which is very important because it provides a safe and comfortable place where volunteers perform their duties and which serves as a patrol headquarters, both at night and during the day. They will also purchase research and environmental education materials.
The rest of the donations will go towards the Futuro Verde multipurpose sports field fund. Thanks to the initiative of our fourth grade student Margaret Holland and her companions Sofía Morales and Naomy Delgado, we will be able to sterilize and provide a better quality of life to our two school cats.
We thank all the people who supported both the students and the organizations.
